The only marriage on NZ marriages which includes his names is that for a James Aitken Alexander Grant who married a Mary Johanna Elizabeth Honey in 1932 but can't be him as a death shows for him in 1976, giving a birthdate of 27/12/1905.

Other deaths including his names are nowhere near a birth of 1910.

There is a marriage in New Zealand for a  Alexander Grant to Doris Muriel Dobson  in 1932.
This was the first one on the List. There are 3 other Alexander Grant's getting married between 1930 and 1939.

Website Here   https://bdmhistoricalrecords.dia.govt.nz/search

I suggest you move this topic  to the New Zealand Board as we have a great bunch of Roots-chatter's here willing to help with your inquiry.

CaroleW   Have asked for this to be done.
Jamjar As far as I know in NZ.  I do not know anything of his family.
Siblings born in Cove - William Harry, Ewan and Marion Campbell.  James Donald born Auchenbowie as far as I know he went alone.
CaroleW  No date given.  His sister is still alive but has Alzheimer's. The age fitted with only grant on the one list that came up for me.  I believe he married in NZ.  I never heard much talk about him or his family and unfortunately have lost contact with any remaining cousins.  I had noticed farm hand and if this is the right Alexander it shows him as single.
Annette7  Agreed that that is not him.
Carol80  Checked website but there is not enough information to confirm that that is the right record and the other three will be the same.
Thank you all for your time.

Looking at the 1929 passenger entry - did you notice that the majority of entries are young men aged 16-18 all shown as farm hands?  The last address for all of them appears to be Salvation Army training farm Hadleigh

Destination was Auckland

Do you know for sure he went as an unmarried teenager?

Hello.

Based upon the above I would suggest you get in touch with the NZ Salvation Army.

Hi Fraser1,

As Carol80 mentioned above, you might find the Archives site of some help as there are a number of records for 'Alexander James Grant'. You should also search for name variations.

Hello again.

Have contacted the local Salvation Army. They advise that as the HODDERVILLE farm establishment was sold some time ago, it would be best to contact the Salvation Army's National Archives.

All the best.

Thank you Spades for the link.  Unfortunately not enough information given to know if he is among those listed.  Alan I will contact the Salvation Army.  It looks like I may have hit a brick wall.

Keep working the problem. Sometimes when you have enough questions they start answering each other, believe it or not!
