« on: Tuesday 07 January 20 22:24 GMT (UK) »
Please can anyone help me find out more information on the above.

James Alexander Grant born 16/11/1910 in Cove, Dunbartonshire.
Father    James Grant   Mother    Mary Campbell  married 3/01/1910

I do know that he went to New Zealand and have a possible passage on the Rimutaka 5/07/1929.
He married and had a family and died but I haven't been able to find any information on him in New Zealand.

Wow, what a quick response.Told by family, his siblings,  that that is where he went.  He was married and died there.  I was also told that he had children.

I’m a tad confused. You say he married etc. Where and when did these events take place?

Can you tell us what you do know about him and his wife, children etc?

I don’t see siblings born in Cove. Where were they born?

Did Alexander travel alone, if to NZ?

Told by family, his siblings

If he had siblings - when did they tell you he had gone to NZ as they are all presumably deceased by now?

There are a lot of outward passenger list entries for the name James Grant with a birthyear 1909/1910 - why did you select the 1929 entry?

He would only have been 18 at that time so presumably any marriage would have been in NZ?

Surely his siblings would have known the names of his wife and children?  What about his siblings children - he was their uncle so do they not have any details about his family?

His birth registration shows him as Alexander James, not James Alexander.

As he is also Alexander on the 1911, I’d assume it was probably the name he was known by.

What evidence do you have that he had swapped his names around?

Looking at the 1929 passenger entry - did you notice that the majority of entries are young men aged 16-18 all shown as farm hands?  The last address for all of them appears to be Salvation Army training farm Hadleigh

Destination was Auckland

Do you know for sure he went as an unmarried teenager?
