Hi Kev
Had to check first but you did contact me on Genes, none of our Towle seem to have links with Hucknall, and of all the names that we have I haven't a George, I will however pass it on to two others that I am working with, but as they are on the same 'line' as me I don't hold much hope, but stranger things have happened.  Our Towles are all in the Stapleford Sandiacre and Trowell area  although Bartholomew b c1852 did live at Brimington Nr Chesterfield at one time
Good hunting
Gill :)
I am researching the following names....
COCKS...Manchester, Aston, Gloucester.
WHITE...Manchester
EMMINGS, UNWIN, TAYLOR...Cambs
DAY, BALL, TITLEY....Staffs
THORNHILL....Longstone, Derbys
DUMELOW, TOWLE...Derbys/Notts border
PHILLIPS.....Droylesden area Manchester

I am also researching the Towles of Stapleford but there was a large number of them! None of mine link to a Bartholomew Towle unless anyone has anything going back through:-

Christopher Towle b 1803 in Stapleford (Died in Manchester 1878- my great-great grandfather)
his Father :-
Andrew b. Stapleford 1766 died derby 1825 married Elizabeth Staley
his father:-
John Towle 1733-1786 b. and d. in Stapleford married Rachel Staveley
his father:-
John Towle 1700-1741 b and d. Stapleford Married Sarah Butler
his father:-
Samuel Towle 1673-1750 b and d. Stapleford. Married Frances Widdowson
has father:-
John Towle 1631- 1714 b. Stapleford d. Castle Donington Married Mary Hooley.
his father :- Henry Towle 1580-1660 b and d. Stapleford Married Cassandra, second name not known.
I am a direct descendant via my mother. I am (fairly)sure about the above. Does anyone know what their livlihoods were for all these years in Stapleford ??. My mother always fondly believed there was a connection to Stapleford HALL but I have not found one!
