« Reply #10 on: Friday 07 May 21 00:22 BST (UK) »
Hi All
Can someone please help and confirm Mary Ann Rosier who her parents are and also Greats
I have been told her greats fled to UK from France during french revolution this I can not find details on
Ive been told her surname was De Rosier now my understanding De. is taking of a name or a person that has ownership of land to me this sounds close to a lord or esq.or a Baron
Mary was born in Wiltshire about 1802 she married John Fowler 14.8.1824 in Ramsbury Wiltshire
her and John moved to NZ in 1842
What I have parents of Mary are
Henry Rosier b.1791 d.1855
Sara Smith b.1780 d 1811
Grandparents that have meant to have fled to the UK
William Rosier 1757 d 1833 with this person states born in UK so not french
Ann Cross b.1756 d 1835 also states born in UK
Did they change names and become citizens?????
So all your help would be grateful so I can put this mater to rest
I have a ged match number been trying to use that for help but the brick wall hasnt moved
Ged Match Number SN1893022
kind regards
Wayne

Think you mean Henry was b 1781.  He died Hungerford 1855 aged 75

He is on the 1851 census - birthplace Ramsbury Wiltshire

Parents marriage

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:NXSV-4JQ

If William Rosier was born 1757 England - his parents could not have fled France during the French Revolution as it did not start until 14.7.1789

Baptism of Henry ROSIER, son of William and Anne at Ramsbury on 23 July 1780.

Looks like he married again on 14 April 1818-  Henry ROSIER (widower) and Elizabeth TOE both otp and neither could sign. Witnesses: ? ROSIER and Jane TOE (with an "x").

In 1841 on Oxford St Ramsbury are Henry (60, ag lab) and Betty (50, not born in county)
HO107/1184/15 pg16

I agree, if William and Anne were in Ramsbury in 1780, unlikely to have escaped French Revolution.

Baptism of William ROSIER at Ramsbury 12 June 1757, son of Robert and Elizabeth.

As Carole said, marriage of William ROSIER (labourer) and Ann CROSS at Ramsbury (after banns, both otp) on 23 Oct 1779 (originally written twenty fourth, but crossed out and replace with twenty third). Neither could sign, Witnesses: Sarah Randal and Richard JACOBS.

Mary Ann ROSIER married John FOWLER 14 August 1824 at Ramsbury (she didn't sign), both otp, after banns. Witnesses: William MAY and Jon SALMES (I have no idea about this last witness, I can't really read the signature).

Mary Ann ROSIER baptised 25 August 1805 at Ramsbury, parents Henry and Sarah.

Whilst this baptism looks likely, there is no proof that her parents were Henry and Sarah - do you have her death certificate? (NZ: 1884/2663) Does it list parents' names?

Also meant to add earlier:

Marriage of Henry ROSIER (labourer) and Sarah SMITH (both otp, after banns) at Ramsbury on 14 May 1804 (he couldn't sign). Witnesses: Robert VENMAN (?) and Fanny BALL.
