Seamen from the Jupiter – Drunk and Disorderly near the Ferry.
Two Scandinavian firemen of the steamer Jupiter, Karl Holm and John Tiller, were
each fined 9s and 2s 6d witness’ fees each at North Shields Police Court today for
having been drunk and disorderly in Duke Street, North Shields, at 10:40 last night.
P.C. Simpson said they were shouting, singing and molesting people coming from
the ferry. He repeatedly tried to get them to go to their ship, but they would not.
Defendants, who said through an interpreter that they could not understand what

A young German named Karl Holm,
an able seaman, was brought before the Poole magistrates
on Wednesday charged With having failed to report himself
within The specified time as laid down under the Aliens’ Act.
After consultation the magistrates Decided that temporarily
he should remain in The care of Supt. Bowles, who would
communicate With the Chief Constable with the idea of the
Secretary of State being asked whether he would allow the
young man to go to Fowey (Cornwall).
