Although some more recent lines of Villeneuve may have wed someone with "mixed-blood" it looks as though it was not yours. I can see few early surname Villeneuve (Mathurin VILLENEUVE) and a totally different line using Amiot/Amyot "dit" Villeneuve in Quebec. The only "mixed blood" connection I've seen so far goes back to *Daniel Joseph, below & 2 his two marriages
Philippe Amiot and Anne Convent m. 1626 France
son: Mathieu Amyot Villeneuve married Nov 22, 1650 - sp: Marie Miville, Quebec, Qc
( dau of Pierre Miville and Charlotte Magis/Maugis m. France)
* son: Daniel Joseph Amiot b. 4 October 1665 Ville de Quebec
1. Marie Kapiouapnokoue 17 years & Daniel-Joseph Amiot Villeneuve 43 years
Sept 2 1709 Montréal, Notre-Dame, Quebec, Canada ( she may have died 1714)
2. It appears there may have been a second marriage to a Domithilde Oukabe
Nepveuouikabe LaFourche, daughter of KeWaNoQuat, sister of NisSoWaQuet an
Indian woman ( their father said to be"Chief of the Little Traverse Band of Ottawa")
Only children I found were these, mentioned in the Annals of Fort Mackinac 9Mich) after Daniel dies & she remarries
- 27 Sept 1712 Daniel, son of Daniel Villeneuve and of Domitille, now madame L'anglade.
- 8 Mar 1716 Anne, dau of Daniel Villeneuve and of M de L'anglade (now wife of Sieur
Guiori/Guillory,Guyori
- 10 Jan 1720 Marie Louise Therese , now wife of Sieur Gautier.
- 13 May 1722 Jean Baptiste Villeneuve, son of madame L'anglade.
- 5 Feb 1724 Agathe , daughter of madame L'anglade, now wife of Bolshile /Boisguilbert
- ? (Nanette Villeneuve, Metis, died 1757, daughter of Daniel Joseph Amoit de Villeneuve )
- 13 Sept. 1731 Augustine de L'anglade & Domitille Villeneuve Widow of ____ Villeneuv
The parents were born in Canada, but are the offspring Canadian or U.S. mixed blood/metis?
Found this online which says father Daniel was also "mixed blood" (he wasn't) ...1722 May 13 Mackinac, New France (Michigan), baptism (IV)-Jean Baptiste Villeneuve, Metis, died 1759 son (III)-Daniel Joseph Amoit de Villeneuve, Metis, (1665-1726) and Domitilde Oukabe (LaFourche) (Madame L'Anglade) 2nd husband Augustin Langlade;
There might be lot of people who believe just having the surname makes them metis but lineage must be proven. Adding: Apparently one must have more than one ancestor of mixed blood as well, and there appear to be a lot of opinions as to where that physical line is drawn.
