The grave reference was confusing me :D I presumed that as he was mentioned on the roll of Honour for Birmingham that he was Killed in Action and that the  name in Yardley Cemetery was a memorial for him and others. But it appears he died at home and there is a grave at Yardley. Thanks to all who took the time to put me on the right track...…………….I think  ;)

Hi blueal --- so is it correct that he was Joseph (Henry) then -- and not John Henry?

I can't see his death on the Civil Registration Index actually if he is Joseph.

Is it possible that he was known in the army as Joseph and within the family as John?

According to records for soldiers died in the great war he did die at home  :)
