The Cooper family, possibly Newtownards.
« on: Thursday 19 December 19 14:24 GMT (UK) »
I am searching for more information about the family of my 3rd GG Robert Cooper b 1821 Ireland and died in 1863 in Liverpool. He was a Mason. He married Emma Harriet Evans in 1845 either in Bangor or Newtownards, have seen records for both places.  (possibly 21st April of this year)
In the 1861 census he is living in Hopwood Street Liverpool. In the same household is a Hugh Cooper also a Mason born about 1814. I assume this is his brother or possibly cousin.
Best wishes
Paul, Bebington, Wirral.

Extract gives marriage place as 'Bangor, Newtownards' in which Newtownards is the civil registration district and Bangor is the dispensary or sub-registration district.

Note regarding the above marriage transcription- Irish marriage certificates DO NOT list religion of bride and groom- this database assumes both are of the same denomination as where the marriage took place. Marriages usually, although not always, take place in bride's church and the groom may or may not have attended same church.

Thanks for posting. I wonder whether Thomas Evans was a Coastguard in Groomsport?

There was a Coastguard station in Groomsport, if you go to this site, you can scroll down to the Groomsport details:https://www.portaferrylifeboat.com/
but not sure what station he was serving with.
