This may be relevant to my search for the family of my GG Grandfather who was James William Marshall.  He was born in Loughborough in 1823 and immigrated to New Zealand in 1852. 

He just arrived alone in New Plymouth.  The only information his eventual in-laws could glean was that he had a mother, two brothers and a sister in Loughborough.

I found him in the 1951 census lodging in the area then he immigrated.  However no clues on who his mother and father were.

I wonder if John was his brother.  Any leads would be appreciated.

Sorry I wasn't aware of your post I didn't receive any notification of it and I haven't had the time to visit Rootschat or for that matter the means to do it. I don't think I can help you in your quest, I myself are re-evaluating my own family tree some things just don't add up.
