Grove Hospital 1931
« on: Tuesday 10 December 19 19:54 GMT (UK) »
Hi, new to this area of the country. I have a relative who died in 1931 at Grove Hospital.
From BMD the death was registered in Wandsworth.
If she was buried locally where would the cemetery be?
Thanks
Howard.

Thanks for the response CaroleW.
The name is Jacqueline Barnett. Died 5 years old in January 1931.
If you can identify a cemetery or place of rest it would be appreciated.

Not found in Wandsworth Cemeteries. Close by are Streatham and Lambeth Cemeteries. You have to pay £9 for lookups at Lambeth Council if you can't go there, but I think I read that deceasedonline is hoping to cover them and will be cheaper.
Researching Penge, Anerley, (including the Crystal Palace) and neighbouring parts of Beckenham, currently in London (Bromley), formerly Surrey and/or Kent.

Thank you everybody, great help.
One final question on Stretham Cemetry, is there a plot layout or a specific area where burials in 1931 were conducted?

There is a section map here. I think 1930s graves would be in the left hand half containing the chapel and main gate, but if WW1 burials are anything to go by will be widely scattered. There is a lot of bare grass around unmarked graves or sunken flat stones making it difficult to follow plot numbers even when you have one. Was the family sufficiently well off to have afforded a private grave and headstone? At that time a child is likely to have otherwise gone to a common grave or been buried with an unrelated adult.
