Hi members !

I’m looking for marriage of Timothy Illman to Elizabeth before 1759 in Sussex. I have Timothy born 1733 in West Grinstead son of Thomas Illman and Elizabeth Bernard.


Does someone know when and where they were baptised ?

There is only 1 marriage for a Timothy Ilman on the Sussex Marriage Index.

He married a Martha Silsby at Shemanbury,West Sussex,1st October 1738.
Timothy was from Henfield and Martha of the parish by Banns

Thomas Illman & Elizabeth Barnard married 30th April 1723,West Grinstead.

Hi again,

I’m still looking for a marriage of the couple Timothy Illman and Elizabeth before 1759. I can’t find one in Sussex so maybe married in another county? ???

Hi,

Having HILLMANs in my tree I often find them with variant surnames like ILLMAN. On the SMI there is a marriage of Timothy HILMAN of Ringmer to Elizabeth THOMAS by banns in Barcombe 25 Jan 1756 of which she was of the parish.

Might be one to consider although it is in East rather than West Sussex.

Hi Sean,

That’s a good find thank you! There’s also a death of an Elizabeth Hillman widow who died 1757 in Barcombe, but the transcription on Freereg does not say her husbands name. 
 
My Timothy Illman and his wife had three children I know of

Elizabeth b. 1758 West Grinstead
John and Ann b.1760 in West Grinstead
