GRO missing years in death index?

If they were buried in church though the registers don’t always give the death date.  Newspapers are an option

There is always the grave marker if they were buried

I think that's the end of the journey then, I'll have to stump up for the full death certificate, which in the grand scheme of things aint a big deal, it is a great grandfather who seems to have lived a very colourful life

If he left a will,that would list his exact date of death in the indexes.

its because the transcriber left before completing the digitisation of records. they are planning on eventually getting the years missing transcribed and digitised.
ive had the same issue trying to find my great grannys death but i found the volume and page number and district via ancestry so im going to purchase the full certificate from GRO
