Army number

My late dad had two medals one for Suez and other fo National Service. He served in RAOC.

On one of them is an 8 digit number. Is this his army number? Thank you.

I started my two years of NS in March 1951 and had an eight figure number starting 224...
Does that fit in?

Sounds about right.  There were lots us going through the mill, though mine was not in action.
