BEX(T)ON & HARTLEY marriage help please
« on: Wednesday 27 November 19 17:00 GMT (UK) »
The date is 13th November 1854 at St. John the Baptist Church in Beeston.
Joseph BEXTON married Mary Ann HARTLEY.
Sadly the online transcription I have found only gives this basic information.   I would like to know ages, marital status, fathers, witnesses etc if someone could kindly check the register for me.
Many thanks
Diana

Don't know whether you already have the 1861 entry.  All born Beeston.  However - in 1881 Joseph says he was b Long Eaton Derbyshire

Joseph 28
Mary Ann 26
Thomas 6
William 4
Arthur 2
Ann 3mths
RG9/2440/107/34

1841 has him with parents  Thomas & Elizabeth both aged 50 and in 1851 he is with widowed father Thomas 66 occ boatman

His brother Thomas married Mary Bagguley in 1850

Hi Carole
Thank you very much for your interest.   I had already found that census entry but the trouble is the information deosn't tie in with the 1851 census, where Joseph is the right age but his wife is older, rather than younger, and born in Kegworth, not Beeston.   I can't see that she died to allow for a second marriage.   That's why I'm interested in the extra information that would be in the church register.
Kind regards,
Diana
PS   I'm pretty sure he was born in Long Eaton.

Hi Carole
Many apologies, I didn't read your post properly.   Do you think the older Mary in 1851 isn't Joseph's wife?

But Joseph didn't marry until 1854??

Are you getting confused with his brothers wife Mary who is living with them in 1851?

Hi Carole

I'd worked out that Mary and Hannah were sisters through the birth registration of the baby.   Thank you, I've now found the marriage to Thomas.   I can start working backwards again.

Many thanks for your help.

Hi,
Wondering if I could help at all. The
Hannah Bagguley from Kegworth that you have come across would of been my great, great grandma. :)
