Good evening, we have the birth certificate for Frederick Ainsworth (Answorth) b May 1842.  His parents are given as Charles Ainsworth and Elizabeth Radley with address given as Starch Green, Hammersmith.  He was baptised on 21/1/1844, St Pauls Hammersmith with parents recorded as Charles and Elizabeth Ainsworth.

We are still unable to trace Charles or Elizabeth and would welcome any suggestions

many thanks

this isn't helping with Frederick
but
there is a birth reg Elizabeth Catherine Radley mother's maiden name Lyne Dec qtr 1841 newington
and a death reg Sept qtr 1842 Kensington
and burial 25 Sept 1842 age 10mth Hammersmith

this looks like the child of Charles Radley and Catherine Lyne who Frederick was with in 1851 & 1861 in Hammersmith

so was Charles Radley and catherine's child (possibly their 1st child ) named after Elizabeth Ainsworth nee Radley who maybe had some misfortune around this time ??

It may not help us, but does the birth registration give an occupation for Charles?

This could be a very interesting search.  If Charles and Elizabeth were in an institution we would expect to find them on censuses.  If they died we would expect to find their death registrations.  If Charles died and Elizabeth remarried we would expect a marriage registration.  I am wondering if they emigrated, leaving young Frederick with a relative (that is assuming that the Frederick  found in 1851 with the RADLEY family by suzard is actually Frederick ANSWORTH).

Please help me to help you by citing sources for information.

Charles was a coachman, according to the 1844 baptism (as Answorth).

Charles Radley’s half-sister Elizabeth was baptised at Great Dunmow on 19 Oct 1828 and married there to George Pavelyn on 15 July 1848, “full age”. She was, as has been said, 13 in the 1841 census (6 June). So it looks likely she was around 14 in May 1842 when Frederick was born.

If she was Frederick’s mother then it is unlikely to have been within wedlock.
