Isaac Hawkins Morrison Rear Admiral
« on: Friday 22 November 19 17:31 GMT (UK) »
I don't know if anyone is bored on a Friday and fancies a challenge, but I have been trying to research the person above.
In the Navy Dictionary it says;
"ISAAC HAWKINS MORRISON, Esq. [Post-Captain of 1814.] Entered the navy under the patronage of the late Isaac Hawkins Browne" ... Clearly from the names there must have been a link between the families, and IHM must have been named after IHB (or probably his father of the same name). There is no evidence the Morrison family were well off and I can't find any links - so any suggestions or help on how these families were related is what I'm looking for!

Yes that was what i was quoting from. I am trying to find how he was related to the Browne family (who were well known);

It's most likely this is the one referred to as his patron https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaac_Hawkins_Browne_(coal_owner)

If you go to www.familysearch.org you will find a great many entries for different people with christian names Isaac Hawkins so the names are not unique

Given the timescale - I think it will be difficult to find a connection.
