Could it be that the people you are trying to contact have let their subscriptions lapse?

Shouldn't be a problem, GS.
I let my subscription lapse some years ago, when I was unemployed and needed to make budget cuts!

But I still get the occasional message. ;D

Thanks all, I'm rather glad it's not just me  :-[
The fact that this happens to every person I've tried to contact tells me that not all have lapsed or died....too many!!!
I'm just interested in why this or that person has my g/granny's pic or my uncle's marriage cert and how they are related.
Hopefully things will be sorted soon

I have contacted a couple of people on Ancestry recently, with no problem. Only had 1 reply, though the others don’t appear to have logged on recently.

Hi

I have not had this problem on Ancestry but have often got stuck in similar loops on other websites.
So a slightly technical response - this usually occurs when your internet browser has retained a cookie or you keep things in cache so it just repeats what happened last time.
The trick is to clear all cookie and cache data so the web browser has to start again.
That is why starting the website again sometimes works but if it does not then you have to specifically delete all cookies and clear all browsing history and cache in the web browser not just restart the particular program, such as ancestry.
The cache is used by the web browser to speed things up on sites you go to often but if that site then gives a incorrect response it will continue to do this until it is cleared and forced to go back and redo all steps.

The answer may be to ring Ancestry, I have always found them to be extremely helpful and solve the problem whilst  you are talking. Save yourself a lot of stress.

Good luck

I am having exactly the same problem and it is frustrating as this particular person seems to have a whole load of info on a relative of mine and he most likely is related although I haven't found him as yet
