Colley family Hull
« on: Friday 19 August 05 18:48 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am trying to trace what happened to the Colley family in Hull
In the 1901 census residing at 2 Primrose Court Short st.
George Henry Colley (head) 33yrs Dock labourer born Hull
Jane Colley (nee Johnson wife) 29yrs born Hull
Peter Colley (Son) 8yrs born Hull
Charlotte Anna Colley (daughter) 4yrs born Hull (my granma)
John Henry Colley (son) 2yrs born Hull
Jason Edward Colley (son) 1wk born Hull
Would love to know what happened to all of them also if there are any living relatives out there.
Charlotte married a David Maitland Hutchison in 1916 but he died in 1917 just 4 days before my father was born.
Another mystery is George Colleys parents John Colley and Sarah ?????
Johns wife Sarah was from Market Weighton but cannot find her maiden name.
I am fairly new to this and have no parents alive to ask, any help will be gratefully recieved, Thankyou Munchkin.xx ;D

There are a lot of Colleys in the current Hull phone book!  When you say you can't find Sarah's maiden name - have you looked for the marriage?  If they're on the 1901 census it will give you their ages and you can look for a marriage on Freebmd or 1837online - start looking when they would be about 18.  You might find John on the 1881 census.  You could also get George's birth certificate - that would give you Sarah's maiden name.  Good luck.

Hello again

http://www.yorkshirebmd.org.uk/cgi/birthind.cgi                         has the following birth entry
George Henry Colley born 1868 in the sub district of Myton reference MYT/70/343

If you think it's the right person then you can print off an application form with that reference and get the birth certificate from the Hull Register Office, cost £7 usually be return of post.

good luck
