Hi Margaret,
Thank you for all of this information. I apologize for the delay in responding; I just noticed that you had sent me additional information.
With your great assistance and research, I am starting to break through some of these long-standing brickwalls.
I have something else that I am puzzling over with regard to one of my Goodes ancestors. I have Thomas Goodes (1750-1830), married to his second wife, Elizabeth Ayers/Ayres (1754-1820). They are my 4x great-grandparents. I have his father listed as a William Goodes (born 1711 with no death date). I have had no spouse listed for William, yet another brick wall.
I have some matches on Ancestry who I notice are now listing a Mary Lucas as wife to William Goodes. I have not seen any source information listed for that marriage. I am very hesitant to add her name as a direct ancestor without any proof. I believe William is also out of Little Stukeley or Great Gidding in Huntingdonshire.
Also, my 3x great-grandfather, Thomas John Goodes (1797 - 1845), is the ancestor who left Great Gidding to emigrate to Rootstown, in Portage County, Ohio. His wife, per my records, was Ann Buswell
(1795 - 1867) out of Bythorn, Huntingdonshire. For some reason, they named their son, my 2x great-grandfather, William Boswell Goodes. This has caused a lot of confusion. :-)
Again, thank you so very much for your assistance and fabulous research. It is greatly appreciated.
Jennifer
