Rober Sidney Carpenter War service

My Granddad Join as Sidney or Sydney carpenter on 2/10/1928 and was discharged on 28/2/1944  service's number is 4855114 I know he served in the Pioneer Crops 254 Coy and Leicestershire Regiment and his Brother Leonard was in the Lincoln ra India. Even more stranger my Granddad has three birth date's listed when he join 1. 25/12/1910 2. 20/12/1910 3. 25/12/1912.  What ever scrap of information you have on my Great granddad and Great-uncle would be much appreciate.

Do you know where they were born?  Is Leonard older or younger? Did either of them have a second name?

If you assume that his birth was registered in the March quarter there are only two births that are possible

Carpenter    Sidney G        W. Ham    4a   38

There is nothing with a spelling of Sydney in the relevant time frame.

Robert Sidney carpenter was born Richard/Robert Sidney scarpenti Born 25/12/1912 Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire, England
 Leonard carpenter was born Leonard Scarpenti on 25/5/1906 Canning Town West Ham United Kingdom but thats about all i have

A possible birth registration for Leonard albeit a quarter later than I would expect for a May birth.

We think before ww2 and that definitely looks right for Len

There is this one for Richard but I would have thought if his birthday was 25th December it would appear in the March quarter.  Right place though.
