Martin Lawlor
« on: Wednesday 06 November 19 15:11 GMT (UK) »
Hello I am looking for some help/advice!!
I have found the marriage record for my gg Grandad but it only lists his father's name and his age as full. I have managed to find three possibilities for his birth certificate but without confirmation of his Mother's name am unsure which birth certificate is his.
The marriage is Martin Lawlor married to Agnes Muldoon 1905 Belfast father listed as John Lawlor occupation Blacksmith
Any suggestions or ideas of what I could now check would be very much appreciated :-)

Have you looked for him on the 1901/1911 census?

The 1911 will give you his birthplace and age which you can use to find him in 1901 - hopefully with his parents

Speculation only.  There is a birth March qtr 1879 in Nantwich Cheshire for Martin Lawlor who seems to disappear before 1881.  Nothing for him on any census and no death.

GRO search shows his mmn was Welch but there are no further Lawlor/Welch births before or after 1879 and no Lawlor/Lawler marriage to a female Welch

EDIT - scrap the above.  Just found a marriage on www.cheshirebmd.org.uk 1879 - William Lawlor to Eliza Welshe - Nantwich

This doesn't answer your query I'm afraid - but there is a Fold 3 Military record for a Martin Lawlor - widow Agnes - son John Joseph.

Sadly died in WW1 - Service No 5280 - Royal Irish Rifles.
I don't have access so cannot tell you if the record gives more clues. Naming his son John Joseph - ties in with his father being named John.

Sorry if you already know this.

Link to 1905 marriage for Martin & Agnes-

What are the 3 possibilities for Martin's birth? certificate should list father's name & occupation.

Following up on the Military theme -- if it's the correct Martin -- he died in 1916 aged 39. Gives him a birth year c 1877.

(May not be the right Martin of course).

If that death is correct -- Agnes was only 20 -- so would have been underage at the time of her marriage.
