Grace Whalley
« on: Friday 19 August 05 13:31 BST (UK) »
Grace Whalley b. 1894 in Burnely
Parents were:  Alfred and Betty Whalley
Sis was:  Ethel Whalley b. 1891
Last know adress was 9 Bluchere Street

Searching for any information on Grace Whalley for marriages, schools, children.
She had a son Harry b. June of 1917, My Father
Registered him under the name of Harry Chadderton
Any information on this Mr. Chadderton, no first name, greatly appreciated.
I have done research for 5 years now and cannot even obtain a birth certificate for Harry, now are there any marriage papers for Grace.

Thanks and God Bless

Have you tried www.1837online.com which has a complete set of indexes for all BMD's?  although it is a paysite, if you can't get to a Records Office or FHS to search the original indexes for the marriage, I can't find it on any free site available online but then the latter years are more sparsely transcribed than the earlier ones.

Question: if you can't obtain a birth certificate how do you know what name he was registered?  Although its not totally unknown, Harry was often an abbreviation of Henry.  If you have his birth date you will be able to order his birth certificate from www.gro.gov.uk .  If it's not there then I suggest you ask them for an alternative name ie Harry/Henry Whalley for the same date.

The other place to check would be the Parish Registers for the Burnley area which might possibly be held in the Preston Record Office, at least they are worth an enquiry http://www.lancashire.gov.uk/education/LRO/index.asp

When you say "last known address" does that mean in your own lifetime? or on a census and if so which one? do you have the details from the 1901 census or would you like a look up?  We could also check whether there are any Chadderton's living nearby.

Hope some of these suggestions help.
Mary

:) hi mary, i know this is an old post i am replying to but i am going to try anyways

the origianl post was made by my sister barb, since then i have been able to obtain the marriage certificate of grace whalley, she married james slater cahhderton in 1914, and i also have the birth certs of our dad, he was born harry chaddderton in 1917, the reason we knew the surname chadderton , was because it was never hidden from us, but no one seemed to know a first name fro our grandfather or details about the marriage, actually i only found the certs about 2 months ago

since then i have been able to track my chadderton ancestors back to the late 1700's and forward to 1949. all i am missing is teh info on james death..........the man keeps eluding me !

kind regards       brenda

Brenda, keep following the Liverpool FHS site, you have received my help on there.  Maybe somebody else might take another look - fresh eyes and all that on here and have some input .....
