The marriage certificate of Edward Lloyd  and Mary Elizabeth Duncan (nee Ravenhill), has Edward as a widower, in addition to Mary being a widow.

Edward's father is recorded as Edward Lloyd, deceased. A West Indian Merchant. Mary's father as George Ravenhill as previous posts.

Edward with widowed mother and siblings in Mold on the 1881 census

and

So Edward's parents were Edward and Agnes

HT - I think the newspaper clip you referred to was of Edward's brother Llewelyn's death and it refers to his father, Edward.

Hafod was obviously the Lloyd family home as both Edward and Llewelyn were baptised from there in 1857 and 1859, although recorded as born Liverpool. In both cases their father, Edward,  was described as a Gentleman.

I've so far not found a marriage of the parents but note that Agnes was born in Scotland .

Found it

Edward Lloyd  married Agnes Croll, 10 August 1851 in Mold by licence.

Agnes's residence is given as Cardross, Scotland.

As she was b. 1815, it could be a second marriage.

Isn't it Croil - reflected in the 2nd given names of the two oldest daughters?

I thought it looked like Croil on one entry but, given it's Scotish, it's more likely to be Croll. Not found her in Scottish baptisms with that name so she might well ahve been a widow,.

Also:

Agnes Lloyd of Hafod, Mold, widow, died 20 June 1908, (endorsed Edinburgh 25 Sept on Probate of the Will and Codicil) granted at St Asaph on 23rd July 1908, to Edward lloy, son, sole executor. Value of Estate £11,356, 3s. 2d.

Are you referring to the Donaldson family in the 1851?  As it's a transcription, it could be wrong. I'll use a few credits on SP to see if I can get the image.

It's Croil on the 1851 but her sister looks like Crail  ::)

Need to find a marriage for Jane and James Donaldson.
