Pierre Alexis De la Montagne, Managing Director of the newspaper Le Précurseur, born in Antwerp the 31st January 1824, domiciled there, widower of Marie Elisabeth Van Oivelen, deceased on 24 December 1857, and adult son of Alexis De la Montagne, printer and typographer, and Susanne Isabelle Bergys, domiciled in Antwerp, consenting by this certificate, on the one part
And Joséphine Barbe Eugénie Bergys, without profession, born in Brussels the 5th December 1836, residing at 52 rue Saint Jean, widow of Jean Felix Vanderplasse, deceased 14 May 1862, adult daughter of Pierre Joseph Bergys, hairdresser, and Louise Artholet, domiciled in this city, present here and consenting on the other part
Who have requested us to proceed with the celebration of the projected marriage between them, the publications of which have been made in this city and in Antwerp on the 21st and 28th of last August.
No opposition to the said marriage having been made to us, granting their requisition, after having had read by both parties the articles relative to their status and to the formalities of marriage, as well as Chapter 4 of the Civil Code, entitled About Marriage, we asked the prospective bride and groom if they wish to take each other as husband and wife, each having responded separately in the affirmative…… etc.
In the presence of: Charles Joseph Coveliers, Director of the Municipal School No. 4, age 62; Laurent Jean De la Montagne, brother, Printer, age 32; Jean Vanderlinden, teacher at the Middle School, age 27, both domiciled in Antwerp, and Alexandre Vanderborght, manufacturer, age 24, domiciled in Brussels, as is the first witness.
