Colourised Photos

After doing a couple of pictures on here was talking to my brother and showing him my results and he said why am I bothering to do it myself.

It is probably a bit tamer on the colour than what I've used on my 2 efforts but I think it works quite well, looking at some of the pics people have shown on here it looks like they might already use the site to do the colouring

Just to be clear, I don't believe the results are that good from what I have see. I have been restoring and colouring photos for 11 years and find any short cuts to colouring don't do justice to the photos, but, that's just my opinion. I always enjoy colouring a good photo and prefer to choose the colours that I think would suit the subject matter and the era.
I am only aware of one restorer on here at the moment who chooses the method that you mention. The way it works is, we all restore and colour our own work. If anyone wants to colour a restored version done by some else, they need to ask their permission to use it to colour first.

I agree with Carol about this app.

I think we all tried it a while ago and weren't all that impressed, especially when images are of poor quality to begin with.

PS - I've just been looking at a description of PS Elements 2020 which seems to have a similar filter. Has anyone tried it?

I use the full  PS CC which doesn't have it.

Added - I once did a special colouring of a wedding group for our lovely Ricky. At one stage it had 70 layers

I agree with what has been said about using this app, I find the results very disappointing. If you want to try it for yourself Grogsy, I give permission for you to use my restoration of Mary Leary and see what you think, I have tried it just now and the app only really coloured her face and changed the background colour, I most definitely would not be satisfied with that result.
The whole idea of colouring is to use a fully restored version that you have done yourself and then to have the pleasure of colouring it to make it all your own work.

I've just tried it - quite clever and interesting, but it gave some odd results. I'll stick to the "old-fashioned" way.
Thanks for sharing though - I wasn't aware of this as I must have missed Dawn's original post.
