Joseph Collins Marriage
« on: Tuesday 29 October 19 21:10 GMT (UK) »
Hi Can any one help please. I'm looking for a marriage between Joseph Collins & Anne? at Wakefield All Saints between 1790 and 1800. Their son John was baptised at Wakefield All Saints on the 26 12 1803. Also any other information on the Collins family around this time in Wakefield would be grateful.

Regards

There is one there on 11 Sep 1796 but spouse is Nanny Booth.  I think Nanny could sometimes be used for Anne.

Hi Thanks for that information. It's interesting about Nanny Booth. I have never heard that before, so it seems that this is the marriage. I will be in contact if I need any more information.
Thanks again Superfly.

Superfly -- do you subscribe to Ancestry?

I ask because there are loads of various datasets on that site for West Yorkshire.

Forgive me if you know this - but in case you don't -- just click on Card Catalogue on the right hand side of home page.

Type in West Yorkshire in the search screen.

A whole list of all sorts of really useful data sets will appear -- including Baptisms, Marriages and Burials.

Also Anne - is a nuisance of a name - it has various derivatives - Ann, Anne, Annie, Nanny, Nancy, Anna. There may be more that I haven't thought of!

Hi. Yes I do belong to Ancestry but I've not used the card catalogue before so I will be searching it now. Also I knew Ann was a nuisance name but did'nt know about Nanny and Nancy, Thanks for that you've been very helpful.

Superfly -- the card catalogue is wonderful -- just type in any word - such as a county name - poor - police --- medical --- non-conformist - probate ---1939  ---- anything at all you think may be of use to you -- and you will be able to see a list of datasets containing that word. (West Yorkshire is really well covered.)

If you have Irish ancestors -- use Ireland -- OR Irish--- you may have to try both separately.

On Find My Past, if you have that -- there is the same facility under 'A-Z of Record Sets.

I never think to investigate the card catalogue so thank you Pennines for mentioning it.
If West Yorkshire is well covered I might even find my long lost missing chap  :D

Oh Milliepede I do hope so --- but he would be WITHIN a particular set of records so you wouldn't be able to put his name in the card catalogue search box itself -- just one of the record sets which pop up.

(there are things like West Yorkshire Bastardy Records - West Yorkshire Prison Records - West Yorkshire Electoral Rolls etc etc -- it's really good -- and I'm NOT suggesting your missing ancestor was a bastard or in prison -- honestly!!!)
