1861 entry for H H shows an age of 21 with an unknown occupation.

Added:  forgot to add that he is unmarried.

As he is fictitious, why do you say he was born in 1842? How could you know?

But there are several male patients with the initials H H in Hanwell in 1861, so the 21 year old is unlikely to be the one who died in 1862. There is also a 36 year old carpenter and a 35 year old painter.

Perhaps it is time rootschatters had another look at your original post on this family, it has been a while since you first asked  :)

Charles James Hobbs birth in Islington, Sep 1860, has a dash for mother's maiden name.

A birth on ScotlandsPeople of an Arthur Hobbs in 1863, district Tradeston
Arthur is also on FamilySearch, born 9 May 1863, mother Mary Ann Hobbs.

Arthur seems to be about in Tottenham later.

I note when son Charles James Hobbs baptised 24/6/1860 Hoxton, father shown as 'Charles' Hobbs, Watchmaker.

Studying the other post too I agree with you that a 'Mr' Hobbs, Watchmaker, is a fabrication and that Mary Ann, mother, was a single lady.   Quite possible that a gentleman who was a watchmaker was indeed the father of both of her sons but he certainly wasn't a Hobbs.

Yes, I have come to the conclusion that Mary Ann Hobbs, daughter of William and Sarah was a single Mother and maybe Charles' father was a watchmaker, just not Henry Edward Hobbs. Who knows who Arthur's father was.
I have followed her, and her parents,  through the census records and there was never any sign of husbands or even permanent partners.
Charles James married my Grandmother, Caroline Clarke, and died in a home for alcoholics. Arthur married Bertha Blyther and severed all contact with his brother.
BTW 1842 was a suggestion from a tree on Ancestry, fantasy I believe.
Search ended I believe.
Thank you all.
