Well ive gone from being 100% England,Wales and NW Europe, which I could never understand given my research,to 80% England Wales and NW Europe,13% Scotland and Ireland and 7% Norway. This fits much more closely with what I now know.given Hugenot ancestors,Irish and others.Ive also found some born in Switzerland who are from  Scotland in 1600s.Ive also found some way back 1600s who are from Ireland, but went to America, some generations born there,in Orange County, then came back, but some died there.dont understand all that yet.

My Irish went from the original 40% (I think. I had it tested several years ago and don't think I can access it on Ancestry now) amended down to 32%. Now bizarrely gone back up to 38%.
I can't wait to see what the next adjustment will produce....100% Irish? No Irish at all?
Davis - Berkshire & London
Sutcliffe - Yorkshire & London
Harrington - Ireland and London
Fuller - Cambridgeshire and Essex
Waldron/Waldren - Devon & London

Hollingsworth - Essex

Surplice/Surplus - Cambridgeshire

I opened another email this morning which told me that my results have been updated again through the refining process.  That is the second time this week.  Great!  I thought .. now hopefully they might have restored my dropped percentage in Irish.  However, my results are exactly the same as the updated version from the other day and I am still now only 49% for Irish - a drop from my original of 60%.  Oh well, I will live in hope that perhaps tomorrow things might be different ..  ;)

The email usually arrives a few days after the actual update  :)

Oh well that explains things - I must have seen my first update of the week on the site and then got my (what I thought was second update) today via email.  I thought that was quick work in advancement with the 'refining' process.

I still live in hope though that my Irish might get increased again one day.  I have been quite proud telling all and sundry that my estimates had indicated 60% originally.  Now I feel like a dog with a tail between its legs at the thought of having to back track and tell people I am only 49%.  I am not even 50-50. :-\  Oh dear!  I did really want to be more on the side of my Irish ancestors.  As I say, I live in hope for the next refining update.   ;D ;)

RTL, Have you looked at the range on your Irish? The 49% may not be the top of the range.

I have taken a quick photo of my estimate - can you see something I can't, Craclynn?

I just hope you are not going to tell me I am even less Irish ..  :o

Also all those Monaghans .. does this mean broken down my ancestors are from South Monaghan?

Click on Ireland and Scotland. That will take you to another screen which says «Your ethnicity estimate is 49%, but it can range from x% to x%.» There is an information button after that to explain how the ranges work.

Thanks for that Craclynn, it records that my range could be 39% to 66%  .. so it could be worse but it also could be better .. I will veer on the optimistic side and tell myself that I might very well be 66% .. which will mean that I am 6% up from when I started.  I know this might not necessarily be true but I do like this possibility.   :D
