Catherine M L DE H LARPENT
« on: Monday 21 October 19 19:41 BST (UK) »
Hi, I am looking for anything on CATHERINE M L DE H LARPENT, I have a letter from her that has an address on it from The House in the Gardens, Kings Weston, Shirehampton, Bristol.
I have found a record that says B 1868 D1953. The only other info that I have it talks about a Mrs Jacomb-Hood who died 16/2/1941, the name may or may not be hyphenated. Any help would be brilliant. many thanks. Rod

Mrs Jacomb-Hood appears to be her sister.

Reta Jacomb-Hood, ne้ Henrietta Kemble de Hochepied-Larpent, baptised 16 Nov in Hove, Sussex, was the daughter of Catherine Mary Melvill and Arthur John (8th Baron) de Hochepied-Larpent, and granddaughter of John James de L'arpent and Georgiana Frances Reeves. She married the artist George Percy Jacomb-Hood, Esq., M.V.O., on 28 Jun 1910, in Marylebone, London.

Bev, ty for that. I need to try and find the connection to my family. Looks like the house in the garden is a mansion house but cannot find out what connection if any she had with it, maybe she was just staying there..  Bit more research required I think !!!!

I guess the "house in the gardens" is Kings Weston House
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kings_Weston_House
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philip_Napier_Miles
From 1833 until 1935 this was the home of the Miles family, Philip Napier Miles married in 1899 to Sybil who appears to be another sister of Catherine.

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XSDT-XH5
 - she was with them in the 1901 census as was another sister so quite likely lived with them or at least visited regularly.

There's a small article in the Bath Chronicle and Weekly Gazette 31 July 1943 when her sister Beatrice Frances Charlotte de Hochepied Larpen dies, last daughter of the 8th baron de Hochepied Larpen.
Beatrice died 11 Nov.
Probate was granted to Catherine and they were both of 40 Bathwick Hill, Bath.

Thank you.
It looks like 1 of my family perhaps worked for them as she had some rooms there but got killed in the war 1941 in London, think they may have had a place in London somewhere. Still looking into it.
