Help with burial in Leith

Hello,
I'd like some advice on locating where my G grandmother Victoria May Currie (Drewitt) maiden name, is buried or cremated.

She died on 30th November 1942 at 736 Ferry Road Leith, Edinburgh.
She was 42 was when she died. Born in Camberwell London in 1901.
On her death certificate the district states Haymarket.
I have contacted MortonHall Edinburgh and they unfortunately have no records for her.
I have also contacted some private cemetries within the area too,
Mount Veron, Seafield, Warriston pierhill & Eastern and Dean, still no records of her.
She is proving to be a bit of a mystery!

Struggling to find her!
Is there any where else, I could possibly search?
Surely there has to be some records somewhere!
Is there some chance she could of gone back to London?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

I have gone on The BNA - Edinburgh evening news is only dated to August 1942, sadly.
I have put searches in, but no luck unfortunately.

Would you confirm what docs you have proving she was born in London?

I guess that we are all attempting to check your theoretical links     

Please save us all repeating the research and give us the synopsis (with refs and full details) ?

I live only a few minutes from 736 Ferry Road, Edinburgh. It is what we call locally the Davidsons Mains end of the Ferry Road and therefore not actually in Leith. They would have fairly new council  houses in 1942. Regarding Haymarket - that is Registration District where your great grandmother's death was registered. Haymarket is in the centre of Edinburgh at the West End. Perhaps whoever registered her death found it more convenient to go there rather than use the one at the other end of Ferry Road which is actually in Leith.

If she was cremated it would have been either at Warriston or Seafield as Mortonhall is a fairly recent one.

If she was buried it could have been at any of the Edinburgh Cemeteries although Rosebank Cemetery at Pilrig would probably have been the nearest one. It is not on your list so may be worth trying.

As said by GR2 an obituary would be your best bet. As the BNA for the Edinburgh Evening News online only goes up to August of that year perhaps you could contact the Evening News directly to see if they can help. It is still in existence.

I contacted the above email address with hope in finding information on my G grandmother.

I read that Edinburgh council owns & manages 39 cemeteries .

On my first post, I called it Mortonhall Edinburgh, I now know, that Mortonhall is the Crematorium, not the place where I emailed.

According to the gentleman at Edinburgh council no data, was found for Victoria Currie.
So, I wonder, if that's all 39 council owned cemeteries checked.

The council guy kindly sent me a list of the privately owned cemeteries, to which I emailed, and had no luck!

In all fairness, that's a lot of cemeteries! Which leads me question, is she in Scotland.

        Mortonhall Crematorium and cemetery where not opened until around 1960 .

As you say there are many cemeteries in the Edinburgh area .

Do you know where her husband is buried where he died this might help you .
