Help with Census 1881
« on: Monday 14 October 19 15:16 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I'm trying to find an entry on the 1881 census for either Charles or Sarah Anderson.
I have them on the 1871 census at John Street, Mile End Old Town, Tower Hamlets. Id like to see if they are still there.
I have no idea how to search for the address on the 1881 census as the names aren't throwing up any returns and the dates and places of birth aren't proving to be too accurate!

If anyone can offer advice I'd be really grateful. I have a subscription to Ancestry but not any others.

Thanks
Ali

Have you looked for a death for Charles?  Maybe he died before 1881 and Sarah remarried.

They were both born in Essex. I have her year of birth as 1839 and his as 1817.

There is a chance she remarried and new name is Walker as her daughter, Augusta Ellen Roles had the surname Walker when she married in 1879. She also had no one to authorise the marriage as she was under 21.
It is all a bit of a mystery...
