Help finding info on great great uncle..WW1 14th Manchester reg

Hi, I’m trying to find out more about my great great uncle who served as a sgt in the 14th batt Manchester regiment in WW1. I have his enlistment papers and his medal card but can’t find anything else. His Regimental number was 13816 and he enlisted on November 9th 1914.
I was told that he was shot in the face, it went through his lower jaw and cheek, he survived but was left disfigured and with difficulty speaking.
I’ve been searching for days and have not found anything to corroborate his injuries or find his discharge papers. If anyone could help I’d be very appreciative!

As you can see from his record there is nothing to indicate he received any wounds.
If he had it would be on his record.
I would also say with such a serious wound he would have been entitled to a pension & there is no record of him applying for one.
It often happens that a wound or injury is assumed to be from the effects of war.
It reminds me of a recent post where a man was assumed to have lost his leg WW1 only to discover it was from a motorcycle accident in the 1920's.

His Sevice records are on Findmypast     Evan JohnLloyd   b.1892     No. 14/13816   Manchester Regiment   —   Wo 363 - First World War Service Records 'Burnt Documents'

As you can see they are listed as Burnt. Don't know how much they will tell you.

FindMyPast has a very brief record of him being admitted to 51st Field Ambulance on 3 August 1916 with a wound to his right hand. He was then a Corporal serving with C company, 12 Battalion, Manchester Regiment.

Strange his record on Ancestry has no mention of a hand wound.
3/8/16 they went over the top from Orchard trench so must have been that assault.

To add to jim1's post.  You have his discharge papers assuming you have the documents from Findmypast.   He was wounded in August 1916 (record on FindMyPast), gun shot wound to the right hand while with 12 Manchesters.  He must have returned to duty as this did not result in returning home.
That said, he did have three spells in France, Jul 1915 to Feb 1916, May 1916 to Jan 1917 and then Jul 1917 to Dec 1917 which may indicate some other wounding or sickness.  As he wasn't released to the reserve until March 1919 and his discharge was a normal one and he doesn't have a Silver War Badge, his discharge wasn't for a disability.

There is though a pension card record for him on Ancestry under the Fold 3 area which I don't have a sub for.  That suggests a claim was made (there is reference to it in his papers)  and may have additional information.

You need a sub to Ancestry and Fold 3 to see the pension card or can go through the Western Front Association (if you join)
