What was a hose hand in 1892 this lady worked at 10 Kills Yard, Millstone Lane. She lived in the Union Workhouse WSD what does WSD stand for.

Hosiery industry perhaps? Are there other similar occupations on the same page?
WSD could be the district.

I think she would have worked finishing off hose that had been knitted on machines. I also think it was probably USD rather than WSD which stands for Urban Sanitary District.

Is there any way of finding a register of people living in the Union Workhouse that has their age or date of birth, I am looking for Mary Carroll who gave birth to a Nora on 13/1/1892. No father listed

She may have just been in the workhouse to give birth then if that is the address on the birth certificate?
Have you found her on the 1891 census?

No there is a Maria but not Mary who would be the right age to bear a child, that’s why I was asking if there was a list with dob on
