Blackpool Gazette July 1963

I sent off a remote enquiry request to the History Centre in Blackpool as I am looking for a 'possible' death notice 7th -10th July 1963. This newspaper is not in the BNA online database.
I've had an auto reply to say that they have staff shortages and are not accepting remote requests at this time, but say I am welcome to visit and look for myself. I am in Scotland so its a bit far for me to pop round
Is anyone able to tell me which newspaper would be the usual one for Blackpool residents to place BMD announcements in 1963? I know there was/is a Blackpool Gazette but sometimes people use a more general area newspaper rather than a smaller local one.
If I can ascertain which newspaper would be the most likely I can try to find a different library/archives who may hold it.
Thanks
Boo

The only 2 papers in this area are the Blackpool Gazette which is a daily paper and the Lytham St Annes Express which is a weekly one
Just rung one of my neighbours who has lived in the area since the mid 1960’s and she tells me she knows of no others

Thank you, at least I now know which paper it was likely to be in - if there was one :-).

I think its actual name in 1963 was the (Blackpool) Evening Gazette. I don't remember any others except the football paper.

you could try Preston (the Harris) library - some of the Preston newspapers are on line with a Lancs library card. I could have a quick look if you could tell us who you are looking for

Thank you, very kind of you to offer :-)
Her name was Margaret Beatrice BELL and she died 07 July 1963, aged 77. Her address at the time of her death was 3 Green Ave., Blackpool.
If there is a notice I'd expect it to be around 8th-10th July

Sorry - the Preston newspaper online only seems to go to about 1950
You could still try emailing Preston library though

Many thanks for taking the time to look for me, its very much appreciated.
I see the newspaper is still going, I'll try them and ask if they can provide details. Most newspapers keep archives (I think !). Shy bairns get nowt and the worst they can do is say no - or say it would cost an arm and a leg :-)

I would have thought that The Lancashire Evening Post would be the most likely choice for a local newspaper.
Watson, Scotland /Dixon, Lancashire /Sheppard, Rogers & Slevin, mostly around Netheravon & Figheldean
