Hi

Can anybody find this family please:

Ernest Cook married to Mary (Etheridge) They had at least 1 son John Thomas Cook born 11 Apr 1909 at 11 Grove Avenue Hemsworth, Pontefract West Yorkshire.
sorry the informtion is scant, I have no further information, no idea if there were any siblings etc, no dates or birth or marriage date. I know its not a lot to go on but here's hoping.

I don't think we have enough to go on to be sure of a match.

Was Ernest married by the 1901 census or would he have been single? 

There are almost 600 Ernest Cook on the 1901 census.  If he was living in Yorkshire that narrows it down to 41.

The only Ernest Cook of the right age, to have a child in 1909 and living in Pontefract for the 1901 census, is

RG 13 / 4299 / 57 / 24

John J Cook, head, m, 42, tailor, Yorks, Kilburn.
Jane, wife, m, 46, Yorks, Pocklington.
Ernest G, son, s, 19, Yorks, Pocklington.

However, you would need a lot more information on the family to confirm or exclude this Ernest as being "yours".

I sugest you file this away until you have more information to go on.

There was no address given for the above entry, just private house given as the address for all entries on the page.

Ernest was married before April 1909 as I have his sons (John Thomas) birth certificate for that date and he was born in Hemsworth... Thank you for trying anyway he was definately married to Mary Etheridge. The one you gave me is around the right time but as you say cant be proven.
