Evacuee records

My dad and his siblings were evacuated to Aberystwyth in WW2 from Liverpool. Can anyone advise about finding his records? Had a look on the 1939 register and could not find any thing.

Can you clarify what do you mean by that?
No-one (should) be open to view if they are still alive.

Both my dad and his siblings are no longer alive. Thought he may have appeared as an evacuee in Aberystwyth.

Well in that case, why not provide his name & date of birth and maybe someone else will have more luck.
Sibling name(s) & dob(s) too if you can

My dad's name was Joseph Grisdale born 9th August 1929
Siblings names  -
James born March 1931
Vera June 1932
May 11th June 1926.

Ok, on FindMyPast I can see a

Vera Grisdale b 1932  (later Campbell) @ Aberystwyth M.B.   Cardiganshire   Wales   66 North Parade

If searching on Ancestry, make sure you pick "Wales" I've caught myself out on that before now

Were the parents joseph (1906) and mary A (1903)?
      Blackburn C.B.   Lancashire   England   33 Duckworth Street

Many thanks for looking. Yes that is my Aunt Vera and on the record my Uncle Jim is also listed at 66 North Parade Aberystwyth. Parents though are Joseph Grisdale b 1904 and Mary Jane Rawlinson b 1905. (both from Liverpool)
It looks like my dad Joseph and his elder sister May Grisdale were placed separately as evacuee's and I have not yet located them.

Can depend on when your Dad died, officially the NHS updated the register till the 1990s, but I have come across some that died prior to that yet were still redacted. In that case you'd need to send a copy of his death cert to release his record. I have done that a couple of times, gave all the details I knew, name, d.o.b., copy of death cert and, from memory, it didn't take too long to release the record.

If you have a sub with FindMyPast (or know someone who does and will send the request) they do it free. whereas I believe the NA charge a fee.

Many thanks. Both my dad and my aunt May died in 2008 . I am a member of Find my Past so will investigate further.
