Hi Irene,

There's a spelling error in this name:

"Otto Reinhold Haus Hermann"

"Haus" should be "Klaus" which is the equivalent of 'Charles'.

The names "Otto and Reinhold" are the names 'donated' by the godparents  (who may have been grandparents or other family) - the man's name was actually 'Charles Hermann'.
I don't know if you've looked in the nationalarchive catalogue for naturalisation papers but Charles may not have applied for naturalisation because he was automatically a British Subject as soon as he married an UK bride.
Good luck,

Hello all hopefully someone will read this.
i just came across this site on a google search for my distant relatives "schilps in greenock" and couldn't believe there are relatives of johann and christina schilp on the site and people who have some research information on them as well - unbelievable! I am related through their daughter Anna Schilp.
I dont have much information on the family apart from the census detail. So any contact or anything that can help me trace them further would be a great help.

I'm from Borgentreich in Germany and my grandmother (1897-1986) was born as Schilp. I'm interesting in family research and I please you to contact me via mail at (*)
