Loved this episode - really enjoyable viewing :)
Paul Merton's ancestors' stories were a pleasure to listen to.  He, himself, seemed appreciative and interested in all that was uncovered.
My favourite episode of the series so far.

Looby :)

I agree with Looby a really enjoyable episode.  There were no over the top dramatics as he followed his history.

I've enjoyed all the WDYTYA episodes.  But I'd be really pleased if they did Aidan Turner's next... :P :P :P

Yes, an enjoyable episode.  I have ancestors who were in nearby Wexford and involved in the Irish War of Indpendence during that period.  I have sight of testimonies naming them/by them, given in the 1930's, similar to that which showed Paul's Grandfather was 'RIP' at the time of a testimony given in the 30's.

However, our excitement came when our daughter in London texted to say that she had seen her flat in the filming, when Paul was in a taxi after leaving his sister's house!  Celebrities at last   ;D

I agree, for me this was one of the most enjoyable episodes. The stories told within the family were tragic enough and so often they are not quite as people thought....
I felt very sorry for his mother and her sister to have lost their mother, father and baby brother within such a short time of each other.

I thought Paul handled it all with great dignity and the fact that he wanted to have a headstone for his grandfather very touching and exactly what I would want too...

As to Poldark and Peake Blinders two excellent series... I've still to catch up with the final episode of the former.

Wonder what Sharon Osborne will be like......

....That's what I'm wondering, Caroline! Doubt it'll be straightforward, hope there's not a lot of screeching!

It was a bit disconcerting to see Paul shuffling along in an overcoat, scarf and flat cap though - he looked like an old man, and reminded me that we're all getting old!

Thoroughly enjoyed this episode for all the reasons given. He came over as a really nice person who was interested and did not go OTT.

Ross Poledark AHHHHHHHHHHHH  Sunday evenings will not be the same without him - must get a life. ;D ;D

Peaky Blinders - Wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of any of them especially the women.

I really liked this one. I agree with others in regards to his reactions not being OTT. Always nice to see someone who isn't overly dramatic.

Just had a look at the blurb for Sharon's and it states;
Quote
Sharon uncovers the difficult circumstances of her mother’s and grandmother’s lives.

This is starting to sound like more of a biography rather than a family history episode.
