Peter Smith 1956 Shrewsbury Electoral Rolls.
« on: Sunday 18 August 19 13:01 BST (UK) »
I've been asked if I can find out anything about Peter Smith a spitfire pilot during the war. The second log book for his car gives his address in 1956 as Mount Pleasant, Shrewsbury. Then Yardley, Birmingham in the 1960's.
Shame his service number is not known because he was hoping to trace him back to the war years and I don’t  seem to be able to pick up the electoral rolls for 1956 as a starting point.

Think it's a bit of a long shot given the little information he has.
Any help appreciated.

Have you tried putting your request on the Shropshire site.?
Perhaps someone there may be able to help.

With a surname like Smith & no other info you could struggle.

You could contact the records office re availability of electoral registers for 1956 but that will give you nothing else other than his name and address - which you already know.

If there were other Smith's at the same address you may be able to use their names to glean more info

Have you looked for him on the 1939 register?  He could have been born anywhere and just went to live in Shropshire after WW2

How do you know he was a spitfire pilot?  I didn't think occupations were shown on logbooks even in 1956
