Thanks everyone,I'm still researching.

Wivenhoe your find at Grangegorman Prison is a really good lead thank you.
 As I am not subscribed to Find My Past ,I went to the local Library which is and allowed me to look for free.
However even though I found the transcript of Catherine Coughlan being at G'gorman, I could not find the mention of baby Ellen.Is there any way that you could forward me that information or point me in the right direction as to how I can access it please.

I have researched the King Family at Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire and it appears that the eldest son always named his son after his father.So it followed on in the King family as Charles /Thomas /Charles Thomas etc back through the 1700's.
My Grandfather Charles is the son of Thomas born to Charles and Catherine and their only child.

I am currently looking at children born to Catherine & ? Coughlan, named Ellen around 1846.
Hoping this may lead me to Catherine's maiden name.

It may not be Hegarty after all !??

I have the information about daughter Ellen from another Grangegorman source, but saw that Grangegorman records were at FindMyPast so gave that to you.

I will go back to my source to confirm.
