No need to shout (use of capitals).

If her children only know she was b Ireland - why specifically has Port Laoise been selected as her possible birthplace?

There are two Liddle births in Ireland from 1940 to 1950
both Dublin North, both male, mother's maiden name Gwynn.
You can find them on FamilySearch no sign of Barbara
https://www.familysearch.org/search/collection/1408347
Could she have been born in Northern Ireland?

Would that pick up variations such as Liddel?
or even LIDL

I only tried L*e, there was a Barbara Little but the mother's maiden name was different.
Tried just Barbara and mother maiden name Gwynn but no joy.
That only makes sense if the mother's maiden name is Gwynn which of course in might not be...……...

with reference to the Liddle/Gwynn family they appear to have been in N I after the war and possibly moving about the country with his job on the railway

IF you or someone else in family know her father's name then you can try
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp
and Search for Marriage of Parents
