Burial for Susanna(h) Priscott - nee Winsborough
« on: Sunday 11 August 19 23:54 BST (UK) »
Hj there,

I have a John Priscott b 1761 in Cutcombe. He married thrice, once to Jane Hole in 1803 (she died a year later), second to a Susanna(h) Winsborough in 1807, and thirdly to Ann Widlake in 1815.

I can not seem to find a death or burial for Susanna(h). Or an alternative marriage for that matter. I believe she was baptised in Brompton Regis in 1785, to Richard and Katherine.

Can anyone help me track down Susanna(h) after giving birth to her last child Ann Priscott in 1814.

Many Thanks.

Tim.

Cutcombe Parish Register entries can be found on both Free Reg and www.wsom.org.uk and there is no burial for a Susanna Priscott. However there is one for a Susan Priscott 28 February 1848 in Wooton Courtney aged 66 which gives a birth year of c1782.

John and Susanna are on the 1841 Census in Wooton Courtney HO107/936/16/F8/p11

There are several younger Priscotts with them. May, or may not be your family.

Thankyou for your reply.

I think the information you have provided has allowed me to discover there are actually two different families here with John Priscotts as the head of the house born within 1 year of eachother from the same place.

Annoyingly they both are also Widowers on their marriage certificates so I Had presumed it was the same man...obviously now It cant be.

Many thanks again.

Hi Tim

I've just had a look at the parish register images for Cutcombe identical to the registers held by Somerset Archives & here is all I could find-both are burials by the way.

Anne PRISCOTT// Langham in Cutcombe// 22JAN1814// 78 years // page 2 No 11

Elizabeth PRISCOTT// Cutcombe// 28FEEB1818// 76 years// page 6 No 43

my search went from start of 1813 to March 1824

I would imagine Susanna was known as Anne as an endearment or a shortening of her name

All the very best
