Miami Daily Arizona Silver Belt 08 June 1915

There are 2 articles on the same page referring to Myrtle Sanders stating that she was born Myrtle ADAMS and adopted by Albert Sanders.

SANDERS TO CARE FOR STEP CHILD.
Albert Sanders was granted the care, through adoption, of his eight year old stepdaughter, Myrtle Adams by Judge G.W. Shute of the superior court yesterday.  Mrs. Sanders, the child's mother, died about a year ago, three months after becoming the wife of Mr. Sanders.  Since then the father of the child, who had separated from the mother before the child was born, claimed the little girl.  Mr. Sanders refused to part with her and petitioned the court for permission to adopt her, which was granted.  A number of Mr. Sander's neighbors appeared as witnesses and testified to his affection for the little girl and to the good care he has given her.  Myrtle will leave soon for Silverton, Colo., where she will spend the summer with Mrs. Mattie Ritter, another stepdaughter of Mr. Sanders.

"DAD" DUNN RETURNS
J.N. Dunn, familiarly known as "Dad" has returned to Miami after an absence of several months, spent with relatives at San Antonio and other Texas towns.  Mr. Dunn is the grandfather of little Myrtle Adams, now Myrtle Sanders, the eight year old stepdaughter of Albert Sanders, who legally adopted the child in court yesterday.

Mattie Dunn can be found in the 1880 census, b. 1875 Texas, living Bexar, Texas with her father Jasper and her mother CAMILA (coincidence or not?), and siblings.  Cannot see a sister Camila/Camile, maybe that was her middle name  ???

My Myrtle's mother is Ethel McClure and father is Wm. Andrew Sanders their both from CA.
I show documents with these names on them and cross referenced back to Myrtle Sanders.

So far the names connected are the McClure's, Merrigan's, Sanders and Deane's - just don't know why there's a connection to Minnesota or Arizona other than the Deane's came from Minnesota and supposed father of her child is Merrigan and that's where he and his family all came from.

I'm getting dizzy with the Myrtle Sanders from Minnesota...

Thanks for all the hard work but I need sleep now... :)

My cousin (Michelle) whose been helping and mostly leading this search has reached out to some of the Mounce children and their grandfather...hopefully we'll be able to gain some insight soon.

As Thomas was found not guilty of being the Father, then what connection is Florenda to you?  (I must have missed something).

The jury came back in 15 minutes with a non guilty verdict.  That was based on the testimony of little children.  In 1921 who knows what tomfoolery took place in the court system.  Thomas is still listed as Florenda's father on her birth certificate.  With all that being said, the only real way to know if Florenda is our great grandfathers child is to hope she had children and someone on her line took a dna that would match up to our Merrigan line.  It is something I can't let go until we know 100% for sure.  Also, I just had an email from Myrtle's first husband's son (from a different mom) who met Florenda a few times.  Waiting on more info from him.
