« on: Tuesday 06 August 19 18:35 BST (UK) »
Hello guys,

Wonder if you can help me?

Can you please confirm what is the placename in Ireland shown at the top of this 1851 census?

Knock.... i read it as Knocknonewl but cannot find the equivalent of the this place.

And which county in Ireland would it be in please?

Many thanks,

Jemima

Possibly Knocknanool, Kiltoom Parish, Athlone Poor Law Union/Civil Registration District, Co. Roscommon?

I see Knacknonewl, so allowing for misspelling I think you have it right Aghadowey.

Thank you very much both of you.

I looked up Knocknanool in the Griffiths Valuations and baptisms for that area, there are no READY's for that area.

Any other suggestions please?

Many thanks,

Jemima

While you're looking at different place names, are you also searching for variant spellings of the surname?  REEDY is one I'm familiar with.
