Doddington/Whittlesey Parish Records
« on: Saturday 20 July 19 14:07 BST (UK) »
I'd be grateful for a Doddington and/or Whittlesey parish look-up for the marriage of a Lawrence Jarman marrying Frances (unknown surname) likely between 1770-1774. Also the birth of Jacob Jarman/German in the same parishes around 1780.

FamilySearch shows the baptism of several of  Lawrence and Frances Jarman's children in Doddington (Ann- 1774, Lawrence-1776, infant, Sarah and Margaret - 1778) but I can't find Jacob nor the marr record.

Many thanks!

Many thanks, Selina for your kindness. I wonder if this truly is "Frances Jarman"- a possible relative to Lawrence or her real surname was just not noted.

May I trouble you to check if there are any Whittlesey births to Lawrence and Frances Jarman between 1765-1782? Likely the  Lawrence and Frances Jarman having children baptised in Doddington between 1774-1778 are the same couple but.... maybe not!

That's fantastic, Selina. Do you know what B.T. stands for (B.T. Jarment)? It doesn't sound as if there is a Jacob German showing up as being born to this Lawrence and Frances in Whittlesey around 1780 so maybe there was one couple in Whittlesey and another in Doddington. It seems strange that Lawrence and Frances would have half of the children baptised in Whittlesey and the other (later) half in Doddington and then return to Whittlesey to be buried. Hmm. I need to track this Jacob down!

I'm very grateful for your help!

B.T. stands for Bishop's Transcript.

A copy of all parish register entries should have been sent to the Bishop, they often contain different spellings and sometimes a little extra information.

I don't know if this is relevant:

Baptism at Parson Drove

13 November 1745 Lawrence JARMUN (B.T. JURMUN) Lawrence son of John and Margarate

Good luck with your research.
