Hi Sandra,
Thank for all you help.  It was a long shot. Hopefully when my DNA results come back it might help.  I had a look at the tree that has the marriage to Melba Williams, they have the right date and place of birth for William but the wrong mother. I just feel that there is to big of a age gap as William born 1918 and Melba born 1940.  Hopefully I'm wrong and the in do is correct I have want them a message .
I will send a email to the attached link that you sent and see I'd they could help.
One day I will be able to come over to America  and Canada to complete my family tree.

Have you got the names birth years for the parents ?  Were there any other children to William Hamilton and Margaret Robertson Paterson ?
Have you found an immigration record for the family to Canada ?

Hi Sandra,
This is what I have got on his family his father was william Hamilton born 1896 in wishaw,Lanarkshire his mother Margaret Robertson Paterson was born 1897 in West Benhar Lanarkshire. His father was a police Constable in Scotland then the family moved to Moosejaw,Canada in 1927.
his siblings are....

Helen Sneddon Hamilton born 1920 Holytown,Lanarkshire died 2007 Nanaimo,Canada married a Thomas Price.
Elizabeth Whitelaw Hamilton b1923 Holytown,Lanarkshire  d2010 in Kelowaia,Canada married Willard Legault.
John Paterson Hamilton b 1924 Chryston,Lanarkshire  d 2006 in Naniamo,Canada not married.
Margaret Paterson Hamilton b1929 Swift current Canada d 1980 Vancouver married Douglaa Roger's.

William Hamilton born 29 Dec 1918 Harthill,Lanarkshire  he married Moria Eleanor Reilly on the 31 Dec 1942 and had a daughter Arleen Lynn Hamilton B 1944.
I had spoken to Moira a few years back by telephone from my home in Scotland and what she said was that they were divorce divorced shortly after their daughter was born and he disappeared. I then found in 1953 on the Border crossing Canada USA document. And it say that he has a son William Hamilton staying at 119 19th N.E Calgary Alberta. The last record I found for him was Nevada Death Index  in 1985.

 Hope this helps.
