I wish I had watched The Onedin Line.  I was busy with O-Levels at the time.  My subject must have been a good navigator, I am stunned by the length and frequency of his voyages.  I have learned more from him than the O-levels.

The Onedin Line was repeated recently on Yesterday or some similar channel sometime within the last year. It'll probably come up again. I'm managing to catch up with most of the series I missed as a student (no TVs for us in those days) and subsequent late hours at work or evening meetings. I'm even managing to see the moon landings which I missed the first time around!
Researching Penge, Anerley, (including the Crystal Palace) and neighbouring parts of Beckenham, currently in London (Bromley), formerly Surrey and/or Kent.

Hi I was informed by a medical researcher looking into my hereditary that she had a report of two ships captains meeting at sea and having a face 2 face discussion as one described in the ships log as having met captain **** as having sawn of fingers and hammered down thumbs (Brachydactyly) .Sadly was not into genealogy at time and did not take notes.
