Does anyone know of the life of Arthur Ernest north born in Bridlington 1866. The 1891 census he was a nurse child living with sarah Hood who was a widow. He eventually went to live in the Bradford area.
Married sarah Palmer in 1905, they had a number of children. I am trying to fill in the gaps in his life. I have recently discovered that he was my mothers illegitimate father. and i would love to know more about him and his family.

Do you have his birth certificate

He may be the “Ernest” North, 14 b Bridlington, who is in Great Driffield as a grandson of Emmanuel North (wid, 66 b Driffield) in 1901.

I wonder whether “Mary” was in fact Em(m)anuel North’s daughter Polly North b 1866.

She was registered and baptised as Polly, but most Pollys would have been officially Mary at that time and Sarah Anne Hood may have wrongly assumed the child’s mother was formally a Mary.

Obviously the birth certificate is required.

Polly North married Joseph Arthur Leech, Dec qtr 1895 Selby.

I think a birth cert is needed. Someone suggested that Polly North was probably his mother but i hadn't thought of her as Mary as it was quite often in those days.
