LMA Visit
« on: Saturday 22 June 19 17:06 BST (UK) »
Is anyone visiting the LMA in June/July. I need one item looked at. Unfortunately I live in Norfolk and I'm a carer so the costs of attending on the off chance there is something worthwhile are too large. I was going to ask the LMA to to do it for me but their minimum charge is one hour at £80. Can refund moderate expenses if necessary. If anyone is going and willing to help I will let you know the catalogue reference and the look-up details.

That's great. It relates to my Ancestor Ethel Mary Brand and her attendance at the London School of medicine. We know she has an entry in the Student Register H72/SM/C/01/03/001/0723. What we need to know is if she has a corresponding file in the Student files; Student Files: 700-799   1900 - 1904 H72/SM/C/01/02/006.

If we are lucky and she does it may have her application form and all sorts of other good info. However, we think she may have switched courses or dropped out and there might be nothing. I'm not sure how the Student Files are organised and you may need to access the Student Register first to get a student number.

I hope this all makes sense. If you incur any reasonable expenses please let me know or if I can do a reciprocal look-up in the Norfolk Record Office please let me know.

That's brilliant and just ask about Norfolk if you need to. Should there be anything interesting in the file then do photocopy and I'll refund you (or take photos on your phone if they let you without charging an arm and a leg)

Just to let you know that someone else went into the LMA today and I asked them to check the Student Registers. They could only find a single page Application of Admission which told us little. Don't waste any time on this is if you have other things to do when you visit, unless you think you might be able to find more out. This was the other person's first visit and I'm not sure how experienced they are.
