Descendants of Janet MacLean (née Jamieson) to Adelaide?

Hi everyone,

I am looking for any information on descendants of my grandmother Janet MacLean (née Jamieson) from Kilmarnock, Ayrshire - she died in 1935 but I believe she had a daughter who emigrated to Adelaide in the 1950's.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific, but any thoughts would be welcome.

Do you know how old your grandmother was when she died in 1935.. this could give her approximate date of birth.
Where did she marry ? Australia and when?
Rootschatters would need as much info as possible to help narrow down a search.

Hi John,
Australia has a very high standard of privacy protection and it is enforced by laws.
You have not given the daughter's name- and it would not be permitted to do so as you do not know whether or not she is deceased-Nor have you given her age at immigration or her marital status which would change her surname.

I do not know of immigration  specifically to Adelaide, but you could search
http://www.naa.gov.au/collection/explore/migration/passengers.aspx

Search as a guest

On the other hand, if you think she remained in Adelaide and was of mature age on arrival,a search of cemeteries, many of which have records online may reveal something.

Hi shume and Sue,

Thanks for your replies. My grandmother was only 41 when she died - born 1894, died 1935. She married Archibald MacLean in 1929, in Glasgow. It was her daughter (my Mum's half-sister) who emigrated to Australia.

Again I realise this is very limited information - as I'm only a beginner I may find more as my research progresses!

John, I am glad that you think we have found your missing relative

Both her and her Hubby were cremated at Centennial Park, does not appear to be memorials, you could contact the cemetery to confirm
